A good Christmas cake requires precision in both the quality and quantity of the ingredients used. The last thing you want when trying to enjoy yourself at Christmas, or rushing around trying to ensure everyone else is happy, is worrying that la piece de resistance of your festive cooking may disappoint. Delia’s Christmas cake ingredients pack will cost just £10, compared to the £23 cost of buying all 24 ingredients for the Christmas cake separately, and comes with clear instructions. So it represents good value, simplicity, and of course produce a world-class cake that will be the envy of your friends (will you tell them how you did it?!)

Key ingredients, such as currants, brandy, treacle, flour, and sugar are provided in the right portions in the kit, and all you need to add are the fresh ones you need; eggs, butter, an orange and a lemon. The ingredients for the icing and decoration are not provided, leaving it to your own artistry and tastes as to what to add. But there are pointers to her site where there are ideas and recipes for the topping.
Delia has sold more than 21 million cookbooks worldwide. She says that her classic and revered Christmas cake recipe has been “unbelievably simplified”. She adds; “There is no need to shop for, or weigh out, a long list of ingredients. All you do is empty the packs into a bowl, mix it together, and bake.”
