Don’t Trim the Trimmings this Christmas!

Continuing the Waitrose Yuletide double act of Heston Blumenthal and Delia Smith, this slice of Christmas preparation from Delia concentrates on that most important support act- the trimmings. She says-
‘What I’m looking forward to is a bronzed free range turkey. And to make it extra special I’ve been inspired by an 18th century chestnut stuffing recipe. Sausage meat helps to keep the moisture in and plump chestnuts & fresh herbs give it a seasonal flavour, and my last little trick is a spiced cranberry and orange relish pack.’

From 12 December, you can get one or both packs from Waitrose: One for ye olde English chestnut stuffing recipe dating back to the 1700s, and one for the spicy cranberry and orange relish. You’ll need additional fresh ingredients, like onions and sausage meat, but what you need to buy and what you need to do are all there in the packs. With these accompaniments to the main act, the Roast Turkey, you get the best of both worlds. Quality celebrity chef-approved ingredients that you don’t have to worry about mixing to get the right proportion, and instructions for you to be able to select and prepare your own fresh ingredients. All this means that at the Christmas Dinner table, when praise is heaped upon you, you can honestly say that it was all your own work, with just a little help from Delia Smith and Waitrose!

While no-one can doubt that the roast Turkey is the star of the Christmas table, it’s the support acts that will complement the bird and turn the meal from simply traditionally tasty to a culinary experience special, that your friends and family will be remembering well into 2012. Just don’t forget to take some photos to record your triumph!

As an extension of its ‘Christmas school of magic’ TV campaign Waitrose have stepped up their online presence in the lead up to the holiday season. Ambassadors for the brand, Heston Blumenthal and Delia Smith, are ever present, sharing tips and recipes on how best to cook your Christmas turkey, along with all the trimmings. The videos will continue to appear throughout December on YouTube.
Bon appetite! Merry Christmas! See the video for the Turkey trimming treat packs here:
