Lewis Hamilton kept Sebastian Vettel chasing at the first practice of Singapore Grand Prix. Hamilton was 0.406 seconds ahead of Vettel, although he didn’t put much speed at the beginning. If there’s a positive result on Sunday’s race, Vettle will nail this year’s championship comfortably.
A Look at the score card indicates Vettle’s victory is certain though Ferrari and McLaren are set to defeat him in the next six races. McLaren’s performance in this F1 season has been tepid and speaking about the remaining races team principal Martin Whitmarsh said: “We enjoy winning and I think we can be competitive, we have some new parts on the car, we have six races left and we’d like to win them. Lewis is quite relaxed and I think he’s very determined. He has had a difficult season, and he did everything he could to try to stay out of trouble at the last race. I told him that was a very disciplined drive but I would like the old Lewis back.”
Meanwhile, Vettle is on the verge of becoming the youngest driver to retain his title at 24. If does, he will stand alongside the F1 legends Fangio, Senna and Schumacher.
