The Duke of Edinburgh, who turns 91, missed the rest of the Diamond Jubilee events as he was hospitalized on the third day of celebrations with a bladder infection at King Edward VII Hospital in central London.
Buckingham Palace further confirmed that Prince Philip would remain in hospital under observation for a few days as a “precautionary measure”. He was visited in hospital by his youngest son, Prince Edward.
However, her Majesty the Queen was accompanied by her husband Prince Philip on June 3 on the royal barge at the Jubilee river pageant on the Thames. The poor health condition of the Prince has alarmed the Royals as this was the second time in six months that he had been hospitalized. The Duke of Edinburgh underwent a heart operation last Christmas.
The triumphant Diamond jubilee celebrations saw the Queen’s huge popularity in Britain despite the ongoing public scrutiny about the Royal family.
