The 55th BFI London Film Festival will open with a tale of intercontinental love affairs
starring Rachel Weisz, Jude Law and Sir Anthony Hopkins.

’360′ is directed by acclaimed Brazilian film director Fernando Meirelles and marks a
reunion with the London-born Weisz. Their last collaboration, The Constant Gardener,
premiered at the 2005 festival and Weisz, 41, went on to win an Oscar for her
performance.

The film was written by Peter Morgan, who also wrote the screenplays for The Queen
and Frost/Nixon. The story sees Weisz as a married woman trying to end her affair with
a younger man, Jude Law a lonely English businessman, and Sir Anthony Hopkins a
recovering alcoholic searching for his estranged daughter.

’360′ is said to be inspired by Arthur Schnitzler’s play La Ronde, which examined modern
concepts of morality through a series of sexual encounters between connected characters.

Meirelles, 55, said he was ‘honoured’ to be holding the film’s European premiere at the
2011 London Festival, which is presented in partnership with American Express.

The ‘City of God’ described it as ‘an intimate film that talks about our options in life’.

He continued: ‘In the past decade I’ve been to the BFI London Film Festival six times,
some of them as a guest and some as part of the audience. It is one of the best festivals in
the world due to its selection of films and the number of theatres the films are shown in.’

This year will be the last London Film Festival ran by current director Sandra Hebron,
who said ’360′ combined ‘masterful story-telling’ with ‘strong performances from a terrific
ensemble cast’.

She added: ‘It will be a pleasure to open this year’s festival with such an accomplished film
from one of international cinema’s finest film-makers’.

The full festival programme will be announced on September 7.
