- What Does Britain Love? The Full Monty!
A major new advertising campaign has been launched to trumpet T-Mobile’s upcoming “Full Monty” mobile price plan.

It majors on all things British and in just a minute and a half, the video manages to squeeze in some of our national loves…and obsessions; grannies, pets, cheese, the countryside, fancy-dress, gardening and festivals, to name just a few! And there’s more than a sprinkling of the crazy zany humour for which we are noted; wearing a traffic cone, rolling a cheese down a slope, and a pig as a pet! Could it be Babe??

The ad, voiced by comedian Harry Hill – possibly another of Britain’s “loves” – was launched on YouTube on 2 February and will then be shown for a two month period on ITV, Channel 4, Five and other channels. It even has Fenton the dog in it, made infamous on YouTube when the pet stampeded a herd of deer across a park, much to his owner’s vocalised displeasure!
Saatchi & Saatchi, which also created T-Mobile’s viral “Royal Wedding” spoof ad, is the creative agency behind the campaign. The video speeds along at a cracking pace, leaving you quite breathless by the time you get to the festival at the end and the unveiling of the slogan.
By having so many snippets of our national loves and treasures here, there can be few people who won’t find something in the advert to bring out a smile, and of course Harry Hill’s characteristic spot-on delivery drives everything along nicely.
It seems from the comments on YouTube that the video has hit the right spot, with people loving the bit with the wayward Fenton in it. The word “viral” is also used a lot- but in a good way!
